1. Use the right gear

Dress appropriately for jungle trekking as you must climb steep slopes, go through streams or rivers, and walk through mud and slippery rocks. Wearing lightweight clothing and proper hiking shoes with good traction can help you navigate uneven terrain safely.

2. Plan your route

It’s important to plan your route before starting your journey. Try to choose trails that match your fitness level and experience, taking into consideration trail length, difficulty level, and estimated hiking time. Bring someone familiar with the route with you so you won’t get lost.

3. Check weather conditions

Be sure to check the weather forecast before starting your journey. Do avoid hiking or jungle trekking during heavy rain, thunderstorms, or any other bad weather conditions as these can cause flash floods as well as slippery trails which is dangerous.

4. Bring essential supplies

Pack a waterproof bag with necessary supplies needed during the hike such as a water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the hike, high-energy snacks to give you the energy needed, a first-aid kit, sunscreen, insect repellent, a GPS device, a whistle in case of any emergencies as well as a fully charged mobile phone.

Recommendations for Gear and Preparation

It’s essential to be well-prepared with the right gear before you start jungle trekking or hiking. Here are some recommendations:

1. Clothing

When it comes to clothing, you would want to wear something comfortable during your trek. Wear moisture-wicking and quick-drying clothes. Choose lightweight and breathable layers. Long sleeves and long pants are great to help protect your skin against sunburn, insects, and scratches during your trek. Don’t forget to bring extra clothes in case you get wet.

2. Footwear

Get yourself a pair of sturdy hiking boots with good traction and ankle support. However, be sure they are softened or broken in before your hike to prevent any blisters or discomfort during your hike.
